Who We Are & Our Project Pitch

We are a collective of local artists, filmmakers, social workers, and engaged community members dedicated to preserving the Movy Club's legacy while creating a space that reflects the spirit of our neighbourhood. Our vision is to transform the Movy Club into a vibrant, inclusive cultural center that offers radical and experimental film programming, educational initiatives, and social activities that foster community connection.
Activities and Values

At the heart of our project are the following activities and values:

Diverse Film Programming: We aim to showcase a range of films, from experimental works to counter-historical narratives, that challenge mainstream perspectives and amplify underrepresented voices.

Community Workshops: We will offer workshops that empower locals with skills in media literacy, film production, and cooperative organizing.

Inclusive Space: Our goal is to create a welcoming environment for all, with programming and activities that reflect the diverse needs and interests of our community.
The Cooperative Model

Our vision for the Movy Club is rooted in the cooperative model, which emphasizes democratic governance and shared ownership. This means that the cinema will be managed by the community, for the community, with each member having an equal say in its operations. This model ensures that the Movy Club remains a space that truly reflects the values and needs of our neighborhood, fostering a sense of collective ownership and responsibility.

Support Our Application

We believe in the potential of the Movy Club to become a beacon of community in Vorst, but we need your support to make this vision a reality. Whether you're interested in joining our cooperative, partnering with us, or simply offering your wishes for the cinema, we invite you to get involved.
What’s Happening at Movy Club?

The Movy Club, a cherished neighbourhood cinema in Vorst, is currently undergoing a significant renovation, with completion expected by 2026. As part of this transformation, the Brussels-Capital Region has issued an open call for proposals to find a new operator who will manage this historic venue as both a cinema and a socio-cultural community center. This is a unique opportunity to revitalise the Movy Club as a dynamic cultural hub that serves the diverse needs of our neighbourhood.
